In Early 2009 ,I made it a point to start marketing and conducting workshops in magic. Today, some clients believe I have a magic school. Fact is, though there is no formal establishment, there might be enough students to call it a school. I decided that I wanted something for my students to fall back on, to read , and to help them continue in the path of magic. Initially, I had 3 different booklets that were sold at the workshops. They sold well and in time, I felt it was time to revamp it.

The three books were packaged, combined and reworked on to cause the birth of the book seen above. LEARN MAGIC NOW!

This book features over 40 magic effects aimed at the new student of magic. Featuring magic with coins, cards, newspaper, pencils, rope, flowers and the mind, the book also contains a Mini Illusion and the art of Juggling too.

I would have uploaded the pictures of my other two competitions but for some strange and Sad reason, I can't seem to locate the pics. Oh wells. I've been thinking for a long time... Toying with an idea. And I've asked myself...What have magic competitions done for me?

Before I go on, allow me to list the awards I've acquired... Because I can :)

So yea, 6 awards. I do plan to add a closeup award to this list. Far too many magicians think I'm not a very Closeup guy. We'll see how that goes. HaHaHa.

For the past few months, since my return from the International Khul Jaa Sim Sim convention in Mumbai, I've been very itchy for another international competition. Which made me think...what should I perform?

I'd love to present my new Mask act for my competitions but the question in my head screams, for what!? True... Why compete? What do these competitions bring me?

So far, here's how these competitions have served me. They are very useful in marketing, they help Event Emcees introduce me better, they establish me within the local magic scene and (very honestly) they make me feel good!

I figured, most of us compete for the ego gratification it brings when you win a prize. It really does nothing besides gain respect amongst magicians (who do not pay your bills), win you some money ( usually never enough to even reimburse 10% of your spending on the acts) and probably create some buzz amongst your lay friends.

To me, a Magic Competition is the perfect Ego boost for a magician, and myself too! I'm guilty of it. Dreaming of the perks of Winning FISM. Then again, that award still brings you JUST bragging rights. Magicians that buy your products feel safer to get them when you do have a string of products to sell them.

For me, I believe in the works of some here that I do respect. A master businessman, a deeply involved theatre practitioner, a speaker using magic to make a difference etc... These men treat magic the way it is in reality. A BUSINESS. Competitions don't do much for me personally. I am thankful for my winnings but I've gone to a stage when I've realised bookings and my sales matter more than winning the next award.

My goals for the future? Im a businessman. My goal is to improve my business! With so much out there, learning is easy and should be done constantly. I only have my girlfriend to thank for instilling this in me time after time.

Think about your worth...what is your aim? Think about how far you go, or what you gain from what you do...

Corporate Workshops - Magic!

We just managed to get a copy of some pics from our recent series of Corporate workshops. June and July were strangely quiet so loads of time was spent on RnD. This new series of workshops prove to be much more different from the usual MagicNow! classes we used to run.

Participants still got their hands on with the magic and did get to keep ALL THE MATERIALS. INCLUSIVE OF A PERSONALLY ENDORSED CERTIFICATE. The workshop saw about 24 participants and I started off with my own handling of a 2000 year old magic effect, The Cups and Balls.

What's different about the new Corporate Workshops? M for Magic

Some months back, there was an open call for young magicians to feature their magic on an internet TV show titled M for Magic. I contacted my friend JC, who was producing the series and got into the show. M for Magic was basically a collaboration between Sinema Media, Concept Magic and Fly Entertainment. Each magician was given approx. 6min of air time and partnered up with a Fly Entertainment Artiste. VERY co-incidentally, I was paired with Benjamin Heng, who stared in a series titled Anything Goes, which I designed some magic for.

Working with JC, Sinema Media and Benjamin Heng was a pleasure. JC, who has tv experience as well, helped ensure the shoot went smoothly. I presented a few pet effects, a thread from eye, glass eating, razor blades from mouth and some misc. card effects. I also came up with a 'street' lightbulb production which sadly, was probably omitted from the show due to air time. Basically, a bottle of bubble solution is shown and a bubble is blown barehanded (without the wand). The bubble is held in the open palm and the base of a lighbulb screws into it, transforming the bubble into glass. Well, it didnt go on... but I'm sure I can perform it again soon.

The show also had some perks for us magicians. We got on various media platforms, from the radio to the news. I managed to perform some magic for the MUTTONS from 98.7FM! Check out the video!

Sinema media gave out two awards in conjunction with the series. A people's choice award, with Facebook likes as the judging platform and the "Most Outstanding Magician" award. It brings me great pleasure to mention that the Most outstanding magician award went to yours truly! Thanks JC, SinemaMedia and Fly Entertainment! I'm a happy man!

Magic Lessons

Not too long ago, I wrote an article on the benefits of magic and what it can do for your health and mind. YES, magic does have its holistic wellness too. I ask myself, what do I do for real and why do I do it? Well, one can argue that I do magic for money. Sounds crude but this is my career. Why do you go to work? Why do you do what you do, it is money. Difference here is, I simply LOVE what I do. Its a hobby turned passion turned career. In fact, I believe not many can choose to turn their hobbies into a profession.

I aim to do everything in my career with Magic. In fact, come to think of it, I can't think of anything I do that has nothing to do with magic. Its not an obsession, its a love. Now, people ask me why I do what I do, and you, if you have read through the blog, would know why I love my magic so much. However, today I wanna write a lil about a question which most my students ask me. "WHY TEACH MAGIC?" "Kyle, being a professional magician, why would you want to reveal your secrets? Why do you have these classes for us?" one asked. If only I had more time, I would have explained in detail. Sadly with only an hour left, I could not explain in detail. Here goes -

Magic, is an art that intrigues. Its one art that requires the performer to be apt in various fields of performance craft, as opposed to singing or dance. In magic, for instance, the Prestidigitator needs to understand drama, psychology, dance, misdirection, speech, vocal variety and the list goes on. Illusionists like myself are constantly improving ourselves with alternative skills like dance. For me, I try to take up any form of circus art and Im open to performance requests - Juggling, Ventriloquism, Balancing etc. These keep me a well rounded performer.

Almost and I say ALMOST everyone likes magic. Even those that only concentrate on shouting out their theories of how an effect is accomplished; matter of a fact is, they LOVE magic! For it brings them that egocentric satisfaction. Despite this arguable statement, it still brings benefits to them.

When I teach magic to my students (adults alike) many say its harder than they thought it was. I teach beginner level magic and still ensure they learn something that WILL definitely impress and provide self satisfaction as well. When my students leave the class, they leave with the understanding that Magic is an art that not easy to accomplish. In fact some are humbled by the effort that goes into magic. Its really not that simple. I always remind them that Magic isn't about what you do, its how you do it. I try to inspire them to make the BEST of their arsenal of tricks.

That's the first point, UNDERSTAND THE ART TAKES PRACTICE. Next I aim to change the society at large. I've received stares and chuckles when I say I'm a professional and full time Magician. There is/was a lack of respect for full-time performers like myself. My classes educate the society as well. It informs that performing CAN be a career and that we do lead decent lives.

At large, what Im trying to do is enlighten the public about performance artistry. The more awareness is created, the better people understand people like me. The more educated society is, the more they find the need for entertainers as well. With respect for magicians, and the craft, there creates an instant need for Magic in more events too.

Lastly, what I'm doing, promotes the art as well. It gives people a perspective into the lives of the magician, explains that magic is not just about glitz and glamour and much more. People do not realise the pains of the rice farmer when they eat their rice. Try ploughing for an hour and they start valuing the farmer and each grain he gets to your plate.

I hope this covers why I teach my magic. Its much more than just wanting to teach for the heck of it. I have a purpose, a mission- to Educate, Enlighten, Entertain. To more courses and lessons.

Its been a while... and well I've not blogged much for a good reason. I've been pretty busy. This post will cover a few topics and I'll update as much as I can. First, my Morgan dollars from Roy Keuppers have arrived. Seriously, the picture does not do justice to the beauty of the coins. 5 coins, each dated 1895 are now in my possession. With the appreciating rates of Silver and Gold, these coins will be worth a few times more than they cost now, approx 120 per piece today, in a few years. So that's it for the coins...

I've had a great experience with the family show circuit. I was booked to run 3 shows at a recent carnival and the clients set up a mini theatre and sold tickets for the show. There was such an overwhelming response that they immediately booked me for one Extra show on the very day. Best part, I was paid immediately! In the book "secrets of a millionaire magician", it states, stick to the customers you add value to and whom in return add value to yours! This client is one of those. THANK YOU for the opportunity. The 28th was a good day, with 4 afternoon shows, I had one more alongside 2 Japanese mimes that same evening in conjunction with the CLAP singapore event. I guess it was really my lucky day that day. The Event producer booked me right after the show for another event, which was yesterday (110611).

Was in Mumbai Last weekend for the Khul Jaa Sim Sim International Magic Convention. Khul Jaa Sim Sim, apparently are the magic words Ali Baba used to open the cave with treasures. My three days there were packed to the brim with interviews with Air India Magazine, Indian Express, meetings with other magicians and I had the chance to meet India's Greatest Magician, K. Lal!

86 years old and diagnosed with brain tumour, K.Lal chooses not to seek treatment. An operation would prevent him from performing on stage and the man wants to perform till his last breath. Talk about passion.

So it's the first part of the journey. I'm glad dharishni came to send me off. It was a bit of a culture shock first but I guess I'm ok now. Swapped seats with a Caucasian chap so he could sit with his family and landed next to a burly man named ranjit. I know cox I managed to read his passport when he was fiddling with it. Smart me. Introduces himself and then says he just got released from prison for overstaying in sg. Seems 6 strokes of the cane is ok when you think about the money you have sent home. Ranjit worked in orchard and lived in amk. That's all I know. Best part, all I did was smile. Though I had to ask if caning hurts as much as they tell you. There is an hour 20 mins till I reach Colombo. I'm at 40 000 feet in the air. Just went through my lecture notes and I decided to blog. Ok laterz!

Oh guess what? The white guy I swapped seats with is watching Keith Barry. Should I show him some magic? Forget it. One more hour

I'm in coffee bean now with 5 hours to kill. Don't know when I will get my next wifi connection. Oh well.

I've been busy running a string of Magic Workshops daily at various venues. On top of that, I'm also juggling a performing career in the nights and weekends. Its good. Keeps my plate full and I'm able to afford for seconds...A big thanks to all my buddies, Dylan, Edmund, Keith, Sze Yong, Marli, Louis, and so many more, for this amazing opportunity and helping me reach out to society, the youth and to empower lives. What you are about to read, is a little write up of what Magic does to your lives. Might be dry, but what the hell! Read on...

Magic has been an art that has intrigued and mystified Man since its discovery. When was magic discovered? It’s hard to know. Long ago, Fire amazed Man the same way sawing a woman in half would today. The human mind is a curious one and Magic is THE TOOL to go for, to tickle the mind. Some might agree that Magic is merely entertainment and its usually a side item. In fact, very few Major shows used to feature Magic acts as a crowd puller. Untill the entry of Siegfried and Roy in Vegas, come 1972.

Yes, magic is a novelty, but it does have Tremendous holistic benefits too. Besides the mere entertainment value, it both stimulates the minds of both the Practitioner and the Spectator.

Magic isn’t just a Great tool to entertain. Believe it or not, it also has therapeutic purposes. With the aid of magic, one can learn to boost his confidence, approach various situations better, improve his public speaking abilities, break the ice in social situations, grow creatively, think spontaneously, improve psycho-motor responses and many more! In fact, facts aside, Magic is a great way to make new friends, add spice to your business meetings and a FANTASTIC way to stay the center of attraction in a group. Well that's still the surface, the bare minimum. There's much more to it...

The art and crafts of magic help the practitioner in more ways than one. In fact, Magic is becoming a popular tool in Rehabilitation and Therapy. The learned acquire better motor skills, co-ordination and dexterity. Holding a pack of cards the RIGHT way can prove to be a challenge to some. And this provides positive feedback within themselves upon mastery.

Magic is perfect for mental conditioning, be it Anger Management, Co-operation, and effective communication. It helps the practitioner attain better leadership skills as he needs to be able to organize his thoughts, instruct clearly and deliver the effect. In fact, for those with some difficulties in processing basic information, learning magic allows one to practice thought segregation, and provides cognitive and perceptual challenges as well.

There are some with other challenges such as, LD, SLD , ADHD or other mental related conditions. Learning magic helps sequential ordering, social cognition, attention and memory too.

Practitioners understand through hands on sessions that magic is alot about communication and in return, they become better speakers. In time, self confidence increases and they are able to access and approach social situations effectively. Which is, in reality the Ultimatum of life.

Beyond that, practitioners understand more about logical thinking, understand how the human mind sees things and is able to apply these to daily life. Problem solving skills and Reasoning abilities greatly improve thanks to the conditioning their minds go through to solve a problem. In this case, decipher or perform a trick.

Magic trains one to be proficient in both verbal and non verbal communication. Body language speaks more than any words put together and an instant improvement in non verbal comm is often seen. It is often the case when the practitioner self learns the art of directing attention and body positioning, which are the same subtleties used in sales, to sell you a product.

Self positivity comes in naturally as well. The practitioner is happier, more confident and all this comes from the Instant gratification that one attains from accomplishing a trick.

Practitioners also understand, with time and practice, how to read 'tells' from others, being able to People read and spot behavioral patterns even before approaching a spectator.

All these skills equip anyone, in the workforce, education or other industry, with the Vital and Key ingredients toward personal success. What is success? Ultimately, success is brought forth from happiness.

Which brings me to my last point. Magic makes people happy. Both spectator and practitioner. The reason why I do magic most, is because I'm happy when someone experiences the feeling of wonder. That same feeling I felt when I was 7. I want to spread the joy and I continue to do so.

Honestly, there are much more, and I wish I was educated enough to provide more jargons or terms. Well, what's known is a grain of sand. Whats unknown is all the sand in the ocean. This is all I have to share. So think about it, would you like to learn some magic too?

Event Companies are the bread and butter to most performers in Singapore. Well even though performing actually is, its the Event Companies ( ECs) that bring in most of the volume. Well we're talking about Magicians here. There are many around, and many more claiming to be a cut above the rest. Few are regulars in the corporate circuit and its also because most people don't see Magic in the corporate industry too much. Time for a change.

Gone are the times when Magic shows were for children parties or CC events. The new breed of magicians present magic with Class, skill and poise. With so many options, what SHOULD AN EVENT COMPANY LOOK OUT FOR in booking a magician?

Does the Magician constantly meet the needs and requirements of the trade show industry?

M is for Magic

I've recently been involved in a new online TV show produced by Sinema Media @ the OLD School. Its an online Street magic series that features up to 13 magicians. I was honored to be given a spot of my own for the 'extreme' magic episode.

Directed by JC Sum, I performed a series of extreme magic, better known as Freak Magic, a term i coined 5 years back. There was loads of danger involved but you know me, I love to push the envelope of pain and whats possible by the body. Dhool Vs. Aatam 100 Vagai

Vishnu Appears from an empty box

Dhool and Aatam 100 vagai ( 100 ways to dance), two shows that feature the best acts of Singapore and Malaysia, respectively, dancing it off for a cash prize. The better teams of both competitions gathered to compete for another face off, this time for another sum of money. It was a pleasure to have performed two new acts for this show, supposedly watched by over 1 million viewers in both Countries. The show was telecast LIVE on both Vasantham Central ( singapore) and Astro ( malaysia).

After several meetings with the production team, we finally decided to make Vishnu, the host of this event, appear on stage. We also went through making him appear in a sports car or a Harley but due to the very limited space in the TV theater, we ruled it out. I also presented a newer version of my sewing through illusion, this time with a more commercial element to it.

Rehearsals were tiring and the KR team spent almost 2 weeks conceptualizing and rehearsing the new acts. Many thanks to Dharishni who came down for practice despite her long hours teaching at school. Flash, who used to work with me long ago returned to join Mizan with the technical details.

We had MAJOR technical difficulties before the show thanks to some moving parts that wont seem to fit no more but we solved it just in time for the LIVE show. I'd also like to thank everyone who commended us (Dharishni, Flash and Mizan) for our work. Without your support and encouragement, we wont be doing what we do!

2011 and my dreams

I'm a dreamer and through my life I've had Dreams. I dream almost every night and I have Dreams of my goal. What is my ultimate Dream? For me, there's not ultimate dream. I hope to die someday and realize what death is. Smile to my self and hope there was a way to tell the real world what death is. No I'm not being morbid. I see this as sensible.

When I was a little boy, when I was 7, all I dreamt about was being a magician. I knew what kind I wanted to be. I chased that dream. Today, 16 years after falling in love with this art, I dream to be elsewhere performing.

I dream to be on the Cruise lines, in the resorts, in the casinos, having my own show where people would be captured already. My role is to make their time worth while. I've spoken to many professionals and many have said it takes time. Yes, I agree.

Sometimes, I sit back and gawk at what an expensive art this is. I loath brats that buy a few fancy toys, dye their hair green and walk around with par to the expression of havin a head that color. I gawk at how much money my idols have spent in their art. Even when they don't tell me, I know.

Its my passion, this taking a stage thing. I love to talk, I love to entertain, but most of all, I love to amaze.

I've got so many ideas in my head, so many things I want and so many concepts to present. Sadly, welcome to Singapore where the avenues are little. So I've gotta create them. I've gotta pave the way for myself. Others have made it. I shall too. No point claiming to be high and mighty. I'm human, just like you. I'll stay that way. Don't call me a celebrity, I'm a performer. And a professional. Something i'm proud off. I've got my awards to prove it. I've got the determination. Most magicians wont bother blogging something like this. I would. I'm human.

Someday I'll read this post and smile. About how i've improved as a performer and as a human being. Kosen Rufu shall be my cause as well. I shall make a difference. I shall be me.

As the emcee of the event, it was important to keep the guests occupied and well entertained! From 60 year olds to 6 month olds, WE DO IT best!

I was browsing through Facebook and I saw that there were some photos in an album that seemed really familiar. Upon closer inspection, I realized, its me! Managed to save a few pictures of me hosting the event and I really like the picture you see below. It reminds me of a before and after pic, after Kyle Ravin's Expanda-mouth Surgery. hahaha** If I'm not mistaken, this dude's name was Ganesh. One of the few volunteers that added that extra comedic element to my routine.

I just sat down a couple of days ago to plan out my aims for the coming year. I started this year and this is the first time, I have been able to stick to my resolutions! That's an improvement! Plus, I feel like its a journey. Nothing can stop me , its constant growth from hence forth.

One of my goals for next year is something rather expensive. In fact, I don't think I would have spent that much of money on a single prop before. Its coming soon and I hope the industry enjoys it!

We did an event at the Civil service club the day before and it was an experience I've never had. The csc marketed the event as, "Christmas Year End Party with Magician Kyle Ravin". STRESS!! I guess the celebrity status helped. We had almost 200 guests, many of them coming just to see the magic and wind down. This includes adults too! I hosted the event and did some magic too. We even had a special Magicial Production of Santa Clause who spent some time greeting the kids. As many of you might know, kids are not my thing. BUT, when the deal arrives, we at Kyle Ravin Productions, give and do our best.

Marina Bay Sands

Within just 1 week, the Kyle Ravin Productions crew managed to seal two shows in Resort World Sentosa and Marina bay Sands. (this weekend, UNIVERSAL STUDIOS). The security was tight as ever, but I guess their strictness will mellow down in time to come. The shows were both banquet shows and honestly, I've done so many, I'm wishing, once, just once, to be able to sit down in those same settings... to eat.

Seriously, the smell of the food, when I'm hosting the event/performing magic lifts me away... ESPECIALLY when the main course is served. Think about it, 100 tables, 1000 plates of food. OMG OMG!! seriously, I need a holiday. Even if its just to a local dinner. I need that man... hahaha...

I don't have pictures, but just two days back, I finished 8 hours of closeup magic with Chevrolet. Though the hours were long, they were split into 4 hours per day. I performed a string of closeup magic, customized, with Chevy playing cards and even an appearance of a toy chevy. That was fun. I believe, in catering my magic to fit every individual occasion and I believe in delivering my best no matter what. Now that's a sales promise!

Meantime, I was bored a couple of days ago and thanks to Dharishni, We put this video together... ENJOY!

Vasantham's Family Day Carnival @ The Zoo

Vasantham's very own Family Day along with Zoomazing race was held on the 21st of November, 2010. It was a day of unpredictable weather, long journey, and hardwork. Kyle, Hamizan and I were walking amongst very familiar happy faces up to the Pools Amphitheatre. It was indeed a long journey, in addition to carrying heavy props on foot, during a hot and humid day. Yet, we kept our spirits high and completed our long walk.

Event went well, with a huge crowd to entertain along with a variety of other entertainers. There were singers, dancers, comedians, and drama segments apart from our magic segment.

Although Kyle Ravin's Sewing Through (First ever in the world) has been performed before at Republic Polytechnic, this happens to be the first ever public showcase of KR's Sewing Through. Here are some pictures for those who didn't manage to catch us LIVE! More events are coming up, and more bookings are coming in!

CUSTOM CARDS FROM USPCC

I'm a Huge Fan of Bicycle playing cards. In fact, Im a huge fan of USPCC too! (US Playing Card Comp.) My first deck I got when I was 9, was an Aladdin. I've Sworn by USPCC ever since and I'm sure many other magicians will agree they probably make the best cards in the world. A time came when I was itching to use my own personalised brand of cards.

I needed a deck that serves as a good publicity means, yet is cost effective for me and not too complicated as well. I've no big issues with a complicated looking back, but I prefer a simple design. It also prevents the impression that my cards (since they are custom) are marked. It took just a while to design the backs and I got it done!

I've got an limited run on these cards and though Im not really keen on selling them, I might if the price/demand is reasonable. I've used these cards probably only thrice, once for TV, once for an online Video and another time in my workshop.

So, do you want a KR deck? Really?

Its halloween and I just finished a show with one of my regular clients. It was a Halloween wine and dine and though not many were dressed as ghouls or demons, the spooky spirit was in the air.

Hosted and performed magic for the event and I launched my new linking Hula hoops act. Honestly, I'm bored of the usual linking rings, so I thought of doing something different. It was very well received.

One thing I like most about the event was that, their backdrop wall was a lighted display that kept changing. It was almost what we needed. With every change of the backdrop wall, so did the color of the entire room. Cool Stuff!!

Best part of the event is, the client presented me with Three bottles of Red wine! Now that's a keep!

The next two months are gonna be busy and i'll post and update as much as I can!

Yoda watches over my Red balls

Today's a special day. 101010 marks the date. And while many were saying we should make as much money as possible on this day, I am happy I got that covered long ago.

I was invited by Victory Family Center, a franchise based church I believe, to perform two show packages for them. First was a close up gig ( pics seen above) and I must add, church goers emit a positive energy around them. It was a joy performing my close up work. In fact, they actually had a fancy dress competition ( explains Yoda in the pictures) and one gentlemen challenged me to predict the outcome. Honestly, I would have... if not for my next show...

The next show I performed for them was my illusion show on stage. They've got a great Tech team and I love how the stage actually has monitors for you to watch yourself. Not as big as the jurong city harvest, but still, Above average! I'm yet to receive the pictures of the illusion show and I'm surely gonna upload the pics once I get them. I'll see you guys real soon!

2 shows and a Ball of a time

Just returned from Sembawang Primary. After performing two shows, for both the morning and afternoon sessions. First, I'd like to start by adding that good service goes a long way. I got today's booking from a lady who's wedding I performed at a year or two ago. Very frankly, I didn't remember her. Now I would, in gratefulness for giving this opportunity to me. This school had a warmth that I've never felt in other schools. The kids new how to have fun and yet knew exactly when to keep mum.

So I performed for two sessions and by the end of the second show, I was drenched in sweat. The rain and humidity didnt help at all. Anyways, Next show would be in a church... Coming soon!!!!

On board StrwardsRiver Boat

Just finished a show on board Stewards River boat, Singapore's only replica of the 1800 Mississippi steamboats. It was a 21st birthday celebration for a pair of Fraternal Twins. Come to think about it, I thought to myself, a long time ago, I'm gonna cut down performing at birthday parties and I'm gonna concentrate on Family entertainment. Never did I think I'll be performing at Adult Birthday Parties!

So, Stewards Riverboat greeted me with a couple of sways that made you feel drunk within just 10 minutes of stepping into the boat. Well this is my second show on board Stewards and despite the waves rocking the boat, I loved the experience. Performing off shore ( almost ) is most definitely a VERY refreshing experience considering I'm always checking into hotels and restaurants for my gigs.

The event, in my opinion was a blast. Started a little rocky ( like the boat ) but it all ended with big bang. Just the way I had it planned. Honestly, I prefer meeting my clients in advance to go through the nooks and crannies of the event and good thing I did. In fact, this particular client initiated the meeting first! I'll keep a lookout on the web to see if any of the performance pics are up!

Singapore Kite fest and West Grove

Just finished 16 shows with the Singapore Kite festival. It was Back breaking work but Well worth it. Went to West Grove primary and performed a short show as well...Judging from the way im bloggin, you'll see how tired I am... I AM WORN OUT! hahaha... one more show at West Grove tomorrow. 21 birthdays galore

Well, within just a week, I've hosted and performed at two 21st birthday celebrations... When a teen finally becomes an adult, in our contexts of course... Co-incidentally, both birthdays were of two girls who were friends... Tricky bit was coming up with 4 hours of showtime, that's completely different from one another, thanks to the presence of mutual friends on both events.

I must say, both events went well though the only complaints I have/had are space constraints...Have a look at the pics for yourself.

The next few days are goin to be busy as ever, with school shows, corporate dinners and even a nation wide festival. I'll keep you guys updated!

New TV Assignments

I've been rather busy of late with non stop rehearsals and tv gigs. From, two projects in Channel 5, Silver Lining and Anything Goes (coming soon) and one in Vasantham Central titled Vasantham Cafe.

There will be about 10 illusion acts, all with unique presentations and story lines. So far, the Fire act, and another 4 illusions have been presented and its been a fantastic experience. Worked with my girlfriend on this one and we managed to perform the illusions perfectly. Great job done on her part!

Working at mediacorp studios have always been fruitful. I love the lights, the mood, surroundings etc. Makes me feel like my 'dream' is being lived. Where I can control what lights I want, exact music cues and so on. Its a great feeling. There are more projects to come and I'm excited about my new illusion coming in from the states.

Showmanship and Feathers review

Friday the 13th, I conducted the Showmanship and Feathers Lecture and here's a short review of it. First, its upsetting that many who wanted to attend the lecture did not turn up. This was aimed at a very minuscule group of magicians and it was meant for a small group. Eventually, we had a mediocre turn out.

The first part of the lecture touched on doves and honestly, despite the success of the lecture, teaching dove magic aint easy at all. Everything had to be demonstrated and honestly, I found it tough to keep the mood of the lecture on a high.

Second part of the lecture touched on showmanship and it seemed to liven up the crowd despite containing no magic at all! The participants found it encouraging and inspiring as well. All's good!

Lecturing and Teaching magicians magic isnt easy at all. And I guess it keeps me on my toes, having to think about what caters to magicians as well.

I also sold my lecture notes, titled, "showmanship singapura" and all found it a good read! Frankly, Im not sure when I'm gonna conduct my next lecture. Having so many projects at hand, I am not sure if I have the productive time to produce another lecture...

Creation of Rodney

So some time back, I was watching videos on youtube and I chanced upon a video of ventriloquist Jeff Dunham in the making of Melvin the Superhero guy. He used Plasticine clay to mold Melvin's head. Then eventually, with a plaster mix to get his form and so on... Well, I've no intentions on making figure heads for vents but, I did want to make a plasticine head. So i whipped out an old Parrot training perch, attached a rubber ball to it and started molding.

Initially, it looked horrendous. But as I went on, he started to take form. At one point of time, he resembled the late Rodney James Dio and I thought, hmm... lets just name him Rodney! So there he is!

Exclusive!

Now, I rarely perform for kids. Probably just once a year. Yesterday was probably that once for 2010. A very close client/friend/fishing buddy of mine celebrated his Daughter's 6th Birthday yesterday at Aranda Country Club. She's got a really nice name too... Moments Poon. Cool eh...

So, initially I was to get a children's entertainer and I was also invited to the party to do some food tasting for them before they open a Western Stall, Pete's Grill. So i thought, well, since they're such good friends, I'll do the show, completely customized and unique.

I guess I'm living up to the standards of Kyle Ravin Productions, where we deliver quality entertainment and provide shows that are customizable to any occasion. I guess, its important, when you are versatile, to BE VERSATILE. Trust me, its not easy at all, for a Corporate/adult entertainer to perform out of his shell. The art of handling kids is not one thats easy to acquire... teachers, parents and kid show entertainers can vouch for me... and i'm glad to be able to do so.

I've got more television projects coming soon and you'll most definitely be in the loop about them!

So, I was invited for an interview for this show called MadMadWorld, which is produced for students, by students. The whole segment laster 15 mins and comprised of an interview segment and another where I performed some closeup magic. Its been a long time since I experimented with new material and I performed a Card to wallet effect and the needle from eye. I also tried a new look with Spectacles! hahaah...

Meanwhile, Thomas Clark is back to the workshop for build something really interesting for me and I'll be launching it in my shows once he's done.

August also seems to be quite a quiet month though I'm still working on the TV project with Ch 5. This, marks my second magic consultancy for TV in half a year! Oh wells, I'm hoping to clinch some deals that I got out and lets see how they go!

Its been sometime Since I blogged. Well, as I'm typing this, I'm also watching a show titled Walking with Lions. Its been a dream, since young to work with the big cats. Before I get into my love for animals, Lemme state that the picture of the show above was a recent one I hosted at SwissOtel Merchant Court for the SGX. Was a good show with a crowd that lived up to the expectations of traders. Loud and very expressive. It was a challenging night but, no challenge is too big for me. Or at least, that's what I tell myself as motivation.

Animals, completely intriguing creatures that I've loved since I was born. I guess I owe thanks to my parents, who bought many animal books when I was little and always encouraged me to watch documentaries. It was the animals that interested me most. I started with just goldfish. Today, I own doves, a mouse, a cockatiel and Cherry, (seen above). I just love animals. The loyalty they have for their loved ones and even their mannerisms. I love the innocence within them and how they react based on instinct.

Sadly, there are too many distractions around my house and online to continue to even write a proper post. Anyways... at least there's a pic of Cherry online. My dearest Silky Terrier. Anyways... August seems to be a quiet month and I hope the shows pour in. While I find somewhere else to pour out... Adios!

Magic Now!

The month of June has come to and end and the projects are piling up. I just started the Design process for the book, Freak Magic and I'm also juggling my band's album launch. Which is set for October.

I'm really happy that both sessions of Magic Now! were extremely successfull and the first class had an overwhelming response of 24 students! Due to the big class size, and with the inability to give personalized attention to each student, we shrank the second class to a maximum amount of 10. This allowed the students to get more in depth attention and guidance.

I also headed down to JB, after many years and spent an afternoon there. The one thing I loved most about it was the pet shop. It actually had hedgehogs! Sadly, of course you cant buy them into Singapore, so it just just a matter of Looksee Looksee. haahah. My shoelace also snapped and I spent a good time finding for a shop to sell me shoelaces. So... the pic you see is that of me fixing the new laces in.

Sunday will see two shows and I'll do my best to photograph it.

Good morning East Coast, Good Afternoon SOKA

Well, two days back I ran two events, one at East coast, for ex convicts i believe and the other At SOKA, for the dynamic youth of the future. This was just after launching a new act the day before for the Singapore Street Festival.

The new act was good, but I still see room for improvement after some constructive feedback from fellow magicians. The wind, surprisingly, posed a challenge for the Street Fest and at East Coast, where I was unable to perform the full fire act. Still, i must say, no matter what challenges We face in life we must be able to learn and take the best from it.

Next in line for this week, MAGIC NOW! session 2!!! Lets see how that turns out!

I've also launched a new lecture after almost three years of not teaching magicians. This one, is called, Showmanship and Feathers and it aims to help magicians better their acts and the lecture also shares my handling on my dove effects as well as some concepts I have in mind. This is on FRIDAY the 13th in August and I hope it'll be a blast!

KK Hospital Family Day

It was a hot and Sunny Day. I arrived on location at approx 8.30am. Got ready for the show and we launched at approx. 9am. I strongly believe it was an enjoyable show. Though it was a long and HOT day, and we even had a heat stroke case, Everything else was cool. This was the first time hosting with my Volunteer Dummy and it had a great response too!

Zig Zag Illusion

I've not exactly informed you guys of the new illusion I acquired recently. Built by John Gaughan, this is one finely constructed prop.

This is the premise. A tall cabinet is displayed and a spectator can even step in it to prove that nothing is phony about the cabinet. The assistant takes her place within the iron maiden-esque chamber and sticks her hands and feet through small holes. The volunteer holds her hands and verifies its real.

Two solid and Inspected blades are pushed through the cabinet and stick out from the back. Just as the audience think the girl is already cut up, The midsection of the girl is slid away from her body.

Of course, She survives and with magic, is restored!

Kyle Ravin Productions is proud to say that this is the only version of this Illusion in Singapore! Whats different?! We don't just stop at sawing a girl in Half! We saw her in Three and Split her apart!!

The Launch of a New Act

I've launched a new act in my shows called the VOLUNTEER DUMMY. The basic idea is simple, a volunteer is selected to be on stage and is told about ventriloquism. He then wears a mask which has a controllable mouth and everything after that is Chaos!

I performed this routine for the first time, in front of a live audience yesterday at Woodlands. It was a greater honor to have performed it for MPS and officials. Lets just say, I felt I could have done a better job at the routine but still, it was REALLY enjoyed by the crowd and VIPs.

The routine also ended with a Song by Chubby Checker and THAT WAS ALSO MY FIRST TIME SINGING ON STAGE! Whether, I did a good job, you see for yourself... All I know, is, I should stick to magic... hahaha...

I'm currently working on new illusions as well and Lets hope Everything turns out well! I'll soon be launching a spiker illusion and penetration illusion that's out of this WORLD! Keep your eyes glued!

Its been quite a long time since I posted anything here. Let's just say the past three months of 2010 have been rather hectic.
The business has been officially registered and as I had predicted, it seems like the first year would be a lil slow.
Nonetheless, I have done a couple of high profile events. Mearce singapore, rhb bank and a couple of others.

The website has been down for a long while, for those of you that noticed. The new one is being worked on as I type this and it'll be up real soon.

I've been Piss busy recently. Handling bookings, production, live shows, directing magic and rehearsals is really tough. I'm feeling super Shagged. Still, in more ways than one, I enjoy being busy. Boy do I need a holiday! hahaha. Did two shows recently, One for Nippon Metal, DnD which I hosted and performed my magic. Show was interesting. It was a family crowd yet I still managed to get them off their seats and kept them entertained. The most rewarding thing any performer like myself can get is seeing your audience happy and enjoying themselves to the fullest. Client was happy and that adds more value to my cheque. Today, did a show for courts and it is by far, the most Challenging situation i've been put in. Why? Stage was really small... no dressing room so I had to end up changing and setting up the show in the carpark. Heng there was free parking! hahaha. People were walking everywhere and being a performer, you need the attention on you. Thus, it was a FANTASTIC opportunity to practice my crowd pulling. The sound system could have been better, Yet, I feel, the crowd did enjoy the show to a good extent. Well, thats the life of performers here... let alone around the world.

I've got bookings so far all the way till Jan 23rd. Thats a good sign. Magic and performing is my main source of income now. Hope things go well. Till the next show,

one hectic life.

Life has been really hectic for me. I've finally ORD frm the service and now that I'm suppose to go full swing in my magic
I've found myself in a production house working as an assistant producer. Well, it sounds glamorous but its far frm that. Tough job I must say.
Non stop producing a drama for tv, staring in a small role in it and juggling my magic business is more that what I thought
I could handle. There's hardly a rest day and even when there's no shoot,I'm out running errands for my own business. My body is worn out, my spirit is low and
I'm still not getting enough sleep.

What else is new in life? Well, I'm still yet to register my company. Realised I need a singpass for that. Something I've to wait another 4 days for.
It seems like I'm taking to someone new in my life...don't wanna jump to any conclusions but I'm rather confident of my feelings. Sad thing is, she's just so far away.
Still, she makes me feel calm and her voice is a lullaby that puts me to sleep. Not that she's boring or something... Just, it has this special soothing effect on me. Oh wells, one can
Never be too sure. Somehow, I feel things would be right if she's in my life. That's the new magic of my life.

Anyways, just got a Blackberry, blogging usin it in Pasir ris park(shooting going on).
Turned 21 too. Been working on a few videos. Will upload em on youtube soon.

I've been off the blog for a really Really long time. I guess there's nothing much for me to blog about. Well, Yesterday, Halloween, I had three shows. All the same... nothing has changed yet. But I must say, i feel I'm getting better with every show. Entertainment has become pretty much a science for me. *winks

The Top three winners!!

Well, here are some recent updates about my performing career... Business has been real slow and I'm really hoping things would pick up eventually. Well, I hit yet another milestone in my business and for the first time, I was invited to be a judge on a national level Semi-professional competition called Mystic Mania. It was indeed an honor to judge 10 fine magicians and I'm happy the most deserving contestant won. Some acts were good... some, looked under rehearsed. But all of them had a good concept of putting a magic act together... Kudos to that. I hope they develop their acts further and strive to be better magicians. One thing I must add though, Guys... bear this in mind if ur reading this, all the magic acts were pretty much the same... (except for Jazz). Cards, Candles, parasols, blendo silks and balls. The same tricks done 8 different way to 8 different styles of music. The Doves especially... bad. Sorry pple... but I've been doing doves since I was 14... and I've practiced ALOT to hone my skills... problem with the acts, I felt was... everyone jus wanted to show off the fact that they had doves to begin with. There was hardly any love shown (besides Markson) and flow to the dove productions... The steals were choppy as well... One performer seemed to have Attempted to color his dove noly to leave it in BLue polka dots.... that's not nice... for the animal... and for the eyes of the audience. If u want to color ur doves, do it well... if not, don't do it at all. Other than that... The acts were fine.

Did a show for Clementi Town Sec. about 2 days back. Its honestly my first Secondary school show as a performing magician and surprisingly, I managed to live up to my own expectations, being Livewire with the crowd. It just so rewarding to see and hear teenagers screaming at the top of their voices and having fun! Its pretty much the same show as usual, but I added a few more comedy bits to the sword thru neck routine. Well... thats all I have for now.

The only clue to what I do in the army

Hey Hey dear pple! I'm back from Thailand! Trust me, I had a great time with the commandos. And I learnt many valuable life lessons, the most important, "If it doesnt kill you, it'll make you stronger". I can't say much about my purpose there or exactly what I was doing but what I can say is i'm 2 months to my ORD date! Civilian life, piercings, dyed hair, HERE I COME!! more about thailand, well, had loads of Tom Yam. 15 bowls over one month to be exact ( OOOOO I LOVE!!) had beer, made friends with some canteen vendors and had alot of interesting experiences in the forests finding food off trees. Serious! honestly, i'm glad to be back. And I really miss home ALOT!

The photos you see above are pics from Komathy's Son's birthday ( is this grammatically correct?) I love the way the floating table routine is pictured. VERY nice and good to show clients in future... business is a lil slow for now but I'm hoping the pace picks up by Nov or Dec. Oh wells... lets see how it goes...

I'm also judging a magic competition on the 12th of Sept and will be a guest performer at the event. I'll post pics and take you guys through a full detailed breakdown of the show once its done.

Had a Dinner and Dance show for K Line last night at Concord hotel. Solomon came down to visit and he helped me take some pics as well. Show went fine... though I wouldnt say it was Fantastic. The theme was masquerade so what better way to show off my make up skills than to paint my face! hahaahh... So yea... its the last show till Sept... when I'm back from Thailand. Hope the trip goes fine. I then head down to Changi for Marilyn's 21st... Had fun with the guys and still the qtn in my head is... wat am i doin for MY 21st? hiaz... lost! oh well

Accident update

This is a note to mself and other Performers around... Please be carefull with fire. Somehow i'm more thankfull My face was on fire rather than have the stage catch Fire. I seriously need to rework the show... and I cant do anything till Mark designs my new show. Yes people...Met with an accident at a show yesterday. Some pryotecnics blew off in my face. My mouth and nose was burnt and swollen. thankfully, Today i just woke up with blisters around my nose. Still had two shows... Chip Lee Jewellry Last night, A birthday at Golden Landmark and a Wedding at Aranda country Club. Shows were awesome and frankly... I feel good about myself.

Yew Tee CC

I've done a good 9 shows For Yew Tee already... and honestly, I've run out of things to perform for them! hahaha... So yea... Came up with a totally different show for them and though things were a little shaky, the show went fine. I was my clumsy self today and dropped a couple of things... but nothing to Jeopardize the content of the show. And I hate dropping my juggling torches. Started with some fire Breathing and Mizan did an Great job with the photography. Then moved onto a New Kyle Ravin Show item , the Bill in Kiwi. Basically a signed bill vanishes and appears inside a Kiwi. Cool stuff... It ahd some great reactions.

Then I moved on to a Strait Jacket escape. And it got loads of laughs thanks to the guys strapping me up. I was thrown around like a rag doll and trust me, IT WAS TIGHT! The challenge was 1min30sec and I got out in 1min15sec. Garnered a HUGE applause. Dixie Dooley was right... When u do the straitjacket escape... The audience struggles with you. They feel constricted. And eventually, When u attain liberation, They're liberated.

Ended with the usual fire act and SHIT I dropped my fire torch. Other than that... its the usual Fire act. I'm thinkin of merging my Fire act and my dove magic... I'll see when I get some good ideas. So yea... enjoy the pics... and to Jeevitha... Just wanna say thanks for coming into my life. hugs!

Heya peeps... Just finished the F1 pre event party today and surprisingly... it was a bad turn up at the Cricket club. I was expecting thousands... but no! Small crowd. Yet was happening. Its a good thing to have a back up effect with me all the time. The main audience was pretty young and I'm pretty sure the sword thru neck would have been inappropriate. I actually filmed the first part of the show. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to upload the video. States some error. And i diddnt take pics too... SOWIE HOR... So yea... I've recieved some email regarding the sudden vanish of my website. Here how it goes. My website has been bought over by another company and I've hired a domain agent to get the website back. Anyways, I just spoke to Reza, an illusionist from the states and he's agreed to design some new illusions for the show. Look at it this way... Left her on top of her cage near the main door and 5 mins later... she was gone. No signs of a struggle, no screaming, no noise...No metallica. To the person that took my baby away from me, Fuck you! And I curse you to the depths. To someone that could have found Metallica if she had decided to take a walk, I hope you'd love her as much as I do. To the cats in the area that could have had Ica for lunch, Be happy you got somethin exotic. To Metallica, baby, your cage is still there, doors open, seeds and water filled. Damn...I've not blogged in a month man... Shit. Sorry guys. Well, i've been thru a couple of shows. Did one Parlor gig at CHIJMES, a spectacular event at Pek Kio, A close up gig at Sentosa, A close up gig at Hort park, A Tamil New Year event at Teck Ghee CC, filmed Metallica for her Tv Debut,( yes Metallica is now featuring on Chellathin Chellam, on Central as a Trick trained Parrot) and an event for Singapore General hospital. All this since 25th March. Its quite a surprize. So many shows within a month. I'm happy that midst the economic downturn, shows are still comin in... Pple need to be entertained la...

Well, i'm on exercise for the next month and I've cancelled all bookings and shows or passed them on to other entertainers. I reckon I'd not blog for yet another month and so far, I've got a show in the end of may... which, is not confirmed yet. You'll know if I did the gig.

New Tricks from Metallica

Hey People! Metallica has basically mastered the wave. Today, marks her fifth day in training. I was really thinking of what to train her in and I attempted to teach her to nod. Something very simple. However, the technique of teaching an animal to nod does not work on her at all. So here I was...stuck and not knowing what new trick to teach her and I figured that maybe I should teach her how to play fetch. YES, parrots can play Fetch. It involved alot of co-ordination between trainer and animal to accomplish it. however, while I was attempting to teach her the fetch... I figured somethin else. Within 30mins, she managed to learn it. Honestly, I'm very tempted to have one more session with her. But its like... already 8.30pm now...I'll give her some rest. Besides, I'll be home early tmw. I'll just continut tmw. In the meanwhile... to findout wat she learnt in 30 mins... watch the video!

at roland restaurant being challenged to a drinking contest...YES! the entertainer was challenged! And the entertainer lost...

Hello Dear Blog followers! I'm finally back with a new Acer Desktop and of course back from Taiwan. The one month I spent in Taiwan was indeed an experience. The 10degree Cold, People, way of live and much more was totally new but very much fun. For anyone that goes to Taiwan, You should try their Siow Long Pau and Chi Pa (Chicken cutlet). Its Uber delicious people! The photos of Taiwan are currently still with Harmeet and I'll post them up as soon as I get them.

I've been trying to solve a problem which I've had for a long long time and I think, its come to an end. For very long, I've been sourcing for a long term assistant and someone whom I can perform with. most of the time, the Girls in the show are'nt free to perform or have other commitments. For the guys, my closest friends are all tied up with their own agenda, army and stuff, so I can't get them to help me for the shows. Finally, after a long talk with Naz, she's decided to come aboard as a pernament assistant! Whoopeee! I honestly hope things work out. So far, we've done like 7 stage shows and last night, Naz starred in her first Swordbox illusion! CONGRATULATIONS NAZ!! It was a nerve wrecking experience, because she's not a performer, but still she completely blew mw away last night with her performance. Good job girl!

Well, basically, last night, I did a show for DSI, a computer and science R&D company. It was their Gala DnD cum awards presentation ceremony. I performed the ususal illusions and hosted as well. They were one happening bunch of scientists! One group even put up a midget performance (seen in pics) that recieved a standing ovation! Best part, the stand up comedian in me came up again and I found myself saying things I never thought I could come up with...

Actually, I've not blogged about a few shows...I performed at Roland Restaurant recently, did a Dnd show at Rendezvous Hotel and performed a medly illusion with the 21 year old birthday girl at Raffles Town Club. I think the client from Raffles will pass me some pics but I've no idea when.

Another update, I'll be performing in the Singapore General Hospital on the 24th of April. It'll be 45 mins of magic, illusions, animals and comedy. A great fun show not to be missed. Yea this show has a lesson to take home. But I really don't know what this lesson is. See, I was hosting and performing my usual illusions for Yongway construction and one of the dancers supposed to perform the sword box could not make it. Well, lets just say, I could not let the client down and it would be a complete waste having hired the van as well. Just as I was turning into a nervous wreck, Harmeet asked if he could fit into the box. My eyes opened to the size of gold balls! I had a great idea. Harmeet even asked how we were going to execute the costume change. Eventually, the idea was this, the magician stuff his guy friend into the box, sticks the swords in, and instead of a costume change, we made Harmeet's top vanish! That got a HUGE laugh from the audience. To be frank, I was not comfortable with Harmeet performing this routine. Simply because I did not want him to be the laughing stock of the day. But he wanted to perform it and I know you just wanted to save my ass and help me brother. Thank you Harmeet. From the bottom of my heart, YOU, are my friend. To my dancer for the day, I love you girl and being your brother, I'm not angry one bit. Promise. I'll still call you more for shows. :)

All my life, I've wanted to do illusions. Last July, I had the honor of performing alongside other pros in Victoria theatre. I presented a full Sword box routine and the Bed of horrors.

The Bed of horrors is an old torture illusion where the magician escapes from straps bound to a table before a rack of spikes come crashing down on him. That's the exact version I performed. The spikes were 2m in the air and weight almost 70 kilos. That would definitely kill me! Lets just say that if i'm typing this, i'm glad to be alive! hahah. Enjoy the photos!

I really did not expect the laptop to be ready all of a sudden. Just a few days ago, they told me it'll take a long time. Suddenly today I got a call stating the laptop was ready for collection. The past few days have been good and I wanna wish everyone a very Happy New year! A couple of things have been going on in my life and its time I share them with the world. First of all, I'm being sent to China for the month of Feb. There, I'll be working with the Officer Cadets. Really hope everything turns out great. Best part, Harmeet is coming along. Two rascals in China!

I've also been saving up for the lean and the custom Losander Floating table illusion and I'm yet to make the order. Though I have the money at hand. Honestly, I don't know which one I'm more exicted to recieve, the lean or the table. Time will tell!

I've also been rather busy during the last week of the year. I did a christmas gig with Max, and most importantly, an illusion show on New Years eve for Laguna country club. Another reason I've not been able to wait for the lappie is because I can't wait to edit the video of my new illusion in the show, "The Switch". Its still a fairly new illusion and its still pretty rough around the edges but still, its one of the most challenging illusions i've performed... In time to come, I wanna make it faster and better!

Unfortunately, my stupid Movie Maker software is screwing up on me and i'm suddenly unable to upload the video to get it edited. The video quality is really bad and there's alot of moving and shuffling around but still its the first video of this illusion being filmed live at a venue. Thus, this leaves me no choice but to stick to some bad quality screen shots. Oh well, at least there are memories!

another busy weekend

This week end was a heck of a long one. Had a total of four different shows. One illusion show + hosting, one wedding, one Christmas party and one block party. Boy its tiring shuttling around so much. I really need to get that license down. At least I don't have to bother about transport. Then again, i've to think of parking... hmm... Anyways, the wedding show was a pleasant one. I met my company warrant officer, some Captains, some kakis from Mediacorp and even Janani! Now that's pleasant. The groom was a captain and it was my first military wedding. Honestly, I felt proud to be in the army. Strangely enough, at someone else's wedding! LOL!

The other shows were great too! I know i'm always saying shows were great but c'mon, I had fun! Yes there are screw ups but none to jeopardize the quality of the show. I particularly enjoyed the illusion and hosting gig at Concord hotel. Though it was a small crowd, it was like a comedy club. Beer really helps boost the spirits of the crowd and it was the best time for me to experiment with my stock lines and one liners.

Here's another update in my life. Just today, I recieved my Gohonzon, the object of devotion in Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism. After a long fight and alot of chanting, I'm finally a full fledged Buddhist. There was a little prayer in my place known as the Daimoku and I was honored to have the zone chiefs grace the event in my place!

There are two shows to go for this year and I hope they'll go well. I'll keep you guys in the loop. Cheers!

World Kitchen

Well, I just came back from a show for World Kitchen at the singapore night safari, and lets just say, though it was for only a crowd of 100 pax, they really pack a punch! It was happening!! Seriously. I've got myself some new crew members, due to the tough times, and today was Nadia and Navin's first show. Nadia was to come in at 6, which she did but Navin was 2 hours late. I had to bring all the props to the event myself, which, for the record, sucks. Still, since I was hosting and performing magic, I had lesser props to bring. Luckily for me, everything could fit into the Sword Box illusion..."phew! Heng ah!"

The event was great!! The theme was, 'its a jungle out there' and some sporting staff came dressed up as animals. There was a really plus sized lady dressed as a rat and a cute 19 year old *winks, dressed as a Zebra. Lets just say, I blatantly flirted with Miss Zebra on many occasions...ONLY for the sake of comedy.

I performed my usual illusions and Nadia, who's doing her first show with me, managed to perform everything seamlessly. Which to me, shows great potential in her. I just hope the situations allow more shows together. Other than that, i had loads of fun. honeslty, I'm seeing more inner talents within myself. Recently, I realise i'm getting better at Stand up comedy. Its strange how I can suddenly stand with a mic, just talk and make people laugh. I'll probably work on this. I'm really tired now... its 1am and i'll be off to bed now. I've got one more show this weekend at the Malay Village. Hope it goes well. Cheers

Voith Turbo

Its been a long while since I blogged. And i've got no inspiration to continue the post below. Finally, the exercise is over and I'm able to relax a little more. Last night, I performed for Voith Turbo's relocation dinner event. Trust me, its a really uuuuloooo place but the party was POSH! I was glad to be greeted in the performers holding area by Alex T, singapore's premiere face changer and Kumar, the DIVA!! haha...Its been quite a while since I performed with both friends. I was there to perform close up magic and to my surprise, the client sent a roving camera with me. Imagine this, i had to perform close up magic, for a table, while another 100 were watching on a huge screen as well! Most of the guests were German but I still managed to entertain and amaze. Lets just say, though performing for tables, the whole crowd followed the magic closely and were not hesitant to cheer and applaud whole heartedly when each effect was over. The one that garnered the most applause was the omni deck, where a deck changes into a glass block. I also ended the event with the usual fire act ( additional for client) and it was a perfect end to the show. After which, Kumar performed his 20 min stand up comedy routine and then we were off to chit chat. It was a fun show and I really hope to perform for Voith again. Trust me, I never knew Germans were so fun...

My Magic and Me

I started magic at the age of seven. Primary one to be exact. I always knew I was different. While other kids were playing with Power Rangers, I was reading horror stories and pretending to be a vampire. I will never forget that fatefull day. My school, had yet another book fair, probably the fifth in just half a year and my father decided not to fund me with any money to buy books. All the money given to me for book fairs were spent on RL STINE and Russel Lee. To me, those books were more appealing, compared to Enid Blyton or Captain Underpants. So this time, with only my daily pocket money of $1.50, I decided to walk around the fair. As usual, the fair took up a quarter of the tuck shop and I spent about 20mins of recess walking up and down the aisles, skimming through the books. Then I saw it, "Magic Tricks you can do". Really?? I thought to myself. I picked up the book and looked at the last page, hoping to find a price tag. There it was, priced just for me, $1.50.

I went without eating in school that day. To me, it diddnt matter. I felt no hunger. I cant recall what happened the rest of the day, but I do recall keeping very quiet on the way home in the school bus. This, to me, was out of the ordinary. I spent the rest oof the days learning every trick in the book.

The three tricks I still remember are the Vanishing matches, the bouncing apple and balancing a grape on the fingertip. The first audience I ever had was my uncle Natchi. It was after dinner in his Spottiswoode Park house and I offered to show him some magic. Being only 7, I suppose he was just being polite when he agreed to watch me and when he gave me his over impressed reactions. YES, the tricks definitely did not fool him, but what he did for me, sparked a passion to perform. It was only his support in the start that gave me the opportunity to expand my magic.

Aged 8, the neighbours uncle Natchi was close to, Kokila and Seenu, presented me with a magic book, 'The Bumper Book of Magic'. This book was far better than the one I bought. It has 200 over pages and I spent the rest of my Primary school days mastering every trick in the book.
When I was Primary 4, my teacher Miss Liew asked everyone to prepare something for show and tell. To me, it was a great chance to present my magic to the class. I took the Bumper Book of Magic and scribbled notes and presentation ideas all over it, eventually designing my first magic show. ( the scribbles and the book are still in my possession) The show, unfortunately was a flop. Not all the matches vanished and the cup that was supposed to balance itself along the edge of a knife fell to the floor, along with the magnet that held it in place.

Aged 11, Vanaja Athay got me my first magic set. In it was a deck of cards, a small wand, the metal rings, some rope and a magic book. I'm still keeping the wand and the rings.

Another show and tell came up when I was Primary 6. I gave it a good thought...should i risk embarrassment again? I decided to go on. This time, i performed the expanding rope, coins from thin air, the matches, and paper to money. My form teacher Mdm Esther Eng, was dumbfounded when it came to the paper to money. I loved the attention and the ability to create miracles. I was hooked to the art. The same year, Uncle Natchi and Vanaja Athay asked me to perform at my cousin Letchmi's 12 year old party. There, I performed the paper to money and and uncle Natchi's Aunt in law could not get over the fact that such a miracle happend. (according to him...she took the confusion to the grave). I on the other hand, could not wait to get more involved in the art.

Secondary 1. I was flipping through the yellow pages and I found two shops named, Magic Castle and Magic Wok. I called Magic Wok and asked if it was a magic shop. The reply, "NO LAR! This one Thai Chinese Restaurant you know!" Honestly, I feel stupid to this day. I eventually got the address to Magic Castle and one day, after school, I decided to take a taxi down to Shaw towers to check the place out. There it was, in a distance, neon lights, a skull on the window and cards splashed across the door. I went closer to take a better look. To my sadness, it was closed.

I still remember the time. It was 1.45pm. I stayed outside the shop for an hour, staring into the magical interior, looking at all the magic I wished to learn. There i was, just outside heaven, only the gates were closed.

In life, one person who has always been by my side is my aunt Angie. Aunt Angie, who my floating table routine is based on, is more that an aunt. To me, she's my mother and I have, never regarded her as anything less. She's always wanted the best for me and to date remains my biggest fan in magic.
Well, I decided to coax aunt Angie into taking me to Castle. Indeed I was successful and in the shop, I was in dream land. On one of the shelves lay a spring puppet. I did not know what it was, but that day, Aunt Angie got it for me. I took Rocky the Raccoon home that day. Today, Rocky sits in a chest together with the other puppets I own. He's lost his tail, but his value remains the same. Thanks Ma...

That year, at Uncle NAtchi's daughter's birthday, I was to perform a magic show. All my best tricks were put together and LO! I had a show. The show was held by the beach and it was a really bad idea. The tide came in and washed many of my props away. I was not very near the shore, but I guess it wasnt my day. I drop a few props and probably exposed a couple too. My parents, too ashamed by what they just saw, dragged me home. I was told never to perform again. I think they were afraid of me making a mockery of myself. I agreed with them for a short time, my ego was in the depths of hell and I did feel ashamed. Still the thirst to learn more continued and I found myself in the magic shop more often.

It was the december holidays and there was an add on Kids Central for contestants to compete in the first season of one minute of fame. I sent almost 5 entries to Kids central, hoping to be featured on tv as a kid magician. Thankfully I got in and performed a levitation, card manipulation and ended by pulling a 10 foot pole from a paper bag. I made it to the finals but only emerged 4th. It was a vote based contest and I was too ashamed to tell my friends back in school to vote for me. Still a fat 13 year old magician getting 4th amongst cute 5 year olds is not too bad... I think. Kids Central had many shows following the One minute of Fame craze and for every stage show Kids Central held, I was there, performing. From Escape theme park to United Square, I was there, performing my multiplying balls routine. My last show with Kids Central was at Plaza Singapura and I decided to invite my parents. They came and instead of cheering me on, they hid behind a pillar on the second floor and watched me perform. I did the floating rose and wanted to swallow a modelling balloon. It failed.
I failed in front of thousands of people and again, I showed my parents what a great Laughing stock I am. They started to hate magic. Frankly, it mattered little to me. I started frequenting Castle more.

One busy weekend

This weekend has been a really busy weekend. There were a total of three shows, one PAP fund raiser, and two deepavalli shows, Despite deepavalli having passed long ago. haha... The PAP show was fun but the waiting time backstage killed me... honestly, its not actually backstage, just a store room I found big enuf to fit the whole show into. I was glad Minister Mr Mah Bow Tan enjoyed the show and I'm pretty sure he's still attempting to figure out the floating table. I've decided to add the dove explosion finale to all my shows as I've been doing it for the past few shows and it always has a GREAT reaction...

Last night was a really hectic night with 2 shows to do back to back. The first, at Ayer Rajah CC was not exactly the best show i've done... and I wouldn't say it was a good show too...The audience was a little dead and I had to pause the show halfway to welcome the VIP. I'm not complaining, but I would have appreciated it if the client could have told me that such a thing may happen. Was a little upset about the interuption.

The second show, now that was happening! The show was at Yew Tee and this is the second year in running i'm performing for the same event. So i start the show with my dove act and as usual, end with the dove explosion, I take the mic and suddenly, BOOM! a loud sound was heard. The mic wasn't working, and there was no music. There was a short circuit! I kept asking myself... why me??!? hahaha A good performer knows how to react when these things happen and thankfully I had a little bag of impromtu tricks at hand. Still after a certain point, I felt I was making a fool of myself. I decided to leave the stage and after almost a 20 min delay and alot of entertainment from the Emcees...I went on again to continue with the sword thru neck, table and fire act... hoenstly folks, I'm sick of this show content and I'm waiting to change the material. Hope it works out... tired sia!! hahahaha

DHL's Halloween Spooky Party

I'm blogging after 24hours after coming home from yet another illusion show. This time, located at Shangri-la hotel for DHL. The name of the event, DHL's Halloween Spooky Party. What better way to end the event with someone fit for such an event... ME! Before I get to the show itself, I'd like to thank JiaMing, for running up and down the hotel running misc. errands for me, Jason for his enthusiasm to learn and his high spirits in keeping me motivated, Nazurah for the wonderful photos and the encouragement and Olivia, who made the magic happen. Thanks to all you guys! The show and even I as the magician will not be complete without you guys. Cheers!!!

Olivia and I made a little agreement, that this show will feature Singapore's fastest illusion,'The Switch'. We had hours of rehearsals and many cans of redbull, and with JM being the illusion supervisor for The Switch, I felt we were ready to take the stage. I've performed the illusion 3 times before in front of a live audience but never at this speed and judging from what Naz told me, yes, it is Singapore's fastest illusion... Thnks JiaMing!

So JM, after a long day of setting up the show at the hotel came to my place at 4.30 and joined Olivia and soon Jason to get all the stuff down to the hotel... The general mood, for me was rather Kan Chiong, but i seriously cant help it when there are so many things to take consideration off...

The event started with me doing a 1 hour set of street magic and that was, to me, the best time to get aquainted with the crowd... there were really many wierd pple and i couldnt help feeling very very at home... like I tell many of my friends, I'm still a kid at heart and ghosts, ghouls, vampires and Chica demons are all too much of a cup of tea for me!

Eventually it was show time and besides burning my hands in the sword box illusion and dropping a juggling torch, the show went perfectly fine... A notable event was the sword thru neck illusion when this dude from Iran just walked up on stage even before I could get someone... BOY...if only he knew what he was getting himself into! In fact, the drunk devil (i hope he was drunk) tried walking away twice after finding out a sword was gonna go straight thru his neck! hahaha... now that's situational comedy at its best! The floating table had great reactions on the sexy witch I got on stage and as usual, in all shows, the fire act got the mood pumping. Now, for the finale, the moment of truth, "The Switch"...

My heart was racing, I was handcuffed, locked in the box, I knew Oli was standing on the box and then, just as the curtain was raised, BAM!! There I was, atop the crate, free from the cuffs in a totally different outfit... (kudos to Naz for the perfectly timed shot) I heard the first totally impressed, bummed out applause for the night... I loved it and I know i'm gonna do it again... The show for me, was a 8 out of 10... The illusions went great... there was a good flow and to the audience everything was in place.

A filipina dude approached me when I was in the loo removing my make up and he was going on and on about how fast the switch was and how it was so unexpected... now that's rewarding for me...

After the show, it was off to makan with JM and his pal Ian and I eventually got home at 3am, dead tired and waiting to sleep... I'm really hoping to do more shows with Jason and Jiaming, the JJ crew... really damn good friends I have, JM especially... thanks bro and I really admire ur work attitude...hope to do more shows with ya!

Just finished a Parlour and close up gig at Katong Park Towers. The audience was of about 300 people and I performed my usual close up routines and played them big for the parlour show...It was indeed fun and the very happy client decided to force me into 4 pegs of Chivas... hahaha, could have said no but how to when its whiskey!! Too bad i diddnt take any photos today but then again, there's nothing much to photograph for close up gigs...

Oh yea... I performed a new card through window effect, where a selected card passes through a glass window and ends up being stuck on the other side of the glass... the audience flipped! Its surely something I'll keep in my arsenal!

Digging and Making toys

Paleontology, is something I've kinda wanted to do ever since I watched Jurassic Park when I was 6. I just feel its super cool when you dig the earth and find bones and piece them together. When I was about 10 or 11, my cousin bro Jeeva got me this toy set that was called, the Dig and Make Stegosaurus...It consisted of a block of clay, chisel and hammer, safety goggles, and a brush... Basically, you dig the block of clay till you find a couple of 'bones', you wash them then fix them together to form a model. It was definitely one of the most fun toys I've had. Unfortunately, I lost the figure... or did I give it to another younger cousin...hmmm Anyways, its been years since I played with that toy and today, someone got it for me!!

Was out with Naz today to commemorate my 1st year cleared in the army (YAY!!) and we popped into TOYSrUS to get my sis a board game. I wanted to get myself a remote controlled helicopter but then I remembered this particullar toy. Asked a chinese national working there that claimed not to know Engriish and eventually some other dude located the toy for me. ( honestly, singapore should stop hiring chinese nationals or any other foreigners in the customer service line... why hire pple that cannot speak english? WTH !)

So there it was, almost 9 years later, the DIG AND MAKE dino collection... so many dinosaurs to choose from and I eventually choose the Velociraptor... Thanks to Naz, she decided to buy it for me... I guess she saw how excited I was when I saw those sets... To the rest of the world, this is evidence, I'm still a kid at heart... So i got home and there it was... Time to work... Put on the safety goggles and chiseled away! The final product is done and I'm going back to TOYSrUS soon to get other versions...Thanks for the great gift NAZ!

Kyle performs for kids...again!

Honestly, I'm not the best kids show performer around, and I'm definitely not the best magician around with kids. However, sometimes, when the job comes your way, you jus have to take the gig. Well, today was another day having to perform for kids in the Yew Tee area. They're a repeat audience so I basically had to come up with a totally different show for them. The last time I performed for them was over a year back so I've no idea what they saw. All it took was 2 hours of rummaging through my 'barang barang' and LO! a new show was born. Well, its not exactly a kids show, but at least it was family oriented. I just felt my outfit looked out of place. Notice the new pants in boots statement??

I performed a really quick dove act, with one dove only and tried the DOVE EXPLOSION effect. Considering i've never even practiced it, besides in my head, it went superbly well. Basically, a dove is thrown up into the air and it explodes into confetti. Sweet... Also performed a comedy shackle escape, the usual 3 card monte , the infamous 4D prediction and closed with the usual fire act.

JiaMing was helping out today and he mentioned the residents of Yew Tee were super 'siow on'. In layman terms, enthusiastic. The screams from the kids were deafening and honesltly, never have I regretted asking the audience to make noise...not until today. LOL

After the show, the client took me and JiaMing out for dinner and got us this Hor Fun with rice thingy... honestly, I doubt its called Mui Fun...if thats what I remember it being called. Eventually, it was back to my place for a little jamming session with Mingz. Magic Jamming...thought him a trick or two, showed him three or four and talked about five and sex...SIX i mean. (that was a honest typo)Well, that's it for today...

Suntec Show

The preshow work for the client was a little tough and there was alot of research to do. The show was last night, and I was to host and perform magic at the same time. I guess everything went well and there were no hiccups. the audience consisted of doctors from 13 different contries.

The organizer, Jill was very particullar about many things but I guess it was all for a good cause. Bidding me goodbye with a hug was good enough to show me she was happy with how the show turned out. honestly, I'm too tired now to type in detail about the show, but lets just say it went really well. Actually, beyond my expectations...

I'll be performing in Yew Tee tomorrow and i'll post somethin on that show... hopefully in more detail.

Flaws with blogger

Somethin is wrong with blogger...my entire blog got its template changed to one of the default ones. Thankfully, the posts are not gone. Anyways, i've added some changes to the look of the blog, namely the pic u see above. Its a screen shot of an illusion I was gonna perform at Pradhana Vizha, or Star Awards, on V.central. I'll be posting about my shows soon as the busy period is around the corner.
This Thursday, i've got a show to host and perform magic in suntec city and looks like i've got no permit to perform with my doves. I'll update some pics and keep u guys informed how the show went.
Its a pity Aarthi couldn't make it for the show. I really wanna help Roswita out but looks like there's no other replacement for her on Thurs. Ros needs to go to the Airport, but how to when there's a show to perform in...im sorry I can't do much. SO...Till thursday...

2 shows, Shuttle, mistakes!

Today was a really busy day for me. The day started off with meeting a client at Little india for a lil discussion on a show I'd be doing for him. Looks like its a close up gig. After which, it was back home to prepare for two shows. Thanks to Flash, my transport was covered. The first show was a kids show at Spottiswoode Park. It went really well in my opinion. It was a simple show, with a crowd of about 50 pax, about 10 kids. I added some new routines to the show, namely the Jumbo 3 card monte. show ended at about 6 and we rushed off back to my place to set up for the next show. Shabir's album launch. I was to perform illusions so as I've stated before, ALOT of work is involved in illusion shows. Finally, it was off to Khalsa club for the show. There were lots of pple there, singers, dancers, models, and of course me! After a long wait, it was showtime! The show was OK by my standards, could have been better but I guess u need to make mistakes to be better. The dove act had some fumbles, the sword thru neck got the best reactions, the floating table got gasps, the fire act was its usual crowd pleaser and my sword box illusion with my new costume change routine was good. Roswita, the dancer for the day, really touched me. Though she ws not feeling well, she had the interest to continue with the show. Kudos to her. I've still for a couple of shows coming up soon... hope they all go well. Cheers!

Saturday was a seriously tiring day for me. the day started with me heading over to Frankie's place to collect the chest piece for my costume. Finally the problem with Bulging fronts are gone! Next, it was off to Kallang to meet this new dude Freon, to try him out for the band. First impression wasn't a good one. He was late. good thing the owner of the Studio was lenient, we could start anytime. So, jamming went well, and Seems like Naz has got a hang of the bass guitar. Looks like now, i'm doomed to play rhythm. (PS: My bass guitar was meant for me...just look at her, droolz...) Zamil ( drums) was not too happy with Freon's music tastes and styles and Naz has her own opinions on him. I guess my gut feeling was right.

Next, was the UPTLC show. The show went well, but Toewy decided not to fly back during the show. Its ok... part and parcel of training animals. Crowd was great and the girls were gorgeous...Some indian girls can really present themselves well...but still, for now, i'll stick to flirting with my bass guitar. Cheers!

Heya guys, finally I've found some time to blog about the recent lecture/discussion I was invited to conduct at UPTLC. First, the photos...

The lecture started 15 minutes later than it was supposed to, thanks to some late birds but still we managed to have a productive session. The name of the event is Vangeh Tamil Pesalaam, which means, come!Let's converse in Tamil. Well, forget the title of the event, I was struggling to do the latter. I asked the kids what the previous speakers were like and they said the previous guys, spoke of how tamil was helpful in their lives and how much they love the language.

I, on the other hand spoke to them in 70% english, 30% bad tamil and told them how much I used to hate tamil, how i could never speak fluently, only being able to strike a short conversation and eventually, how learning Tamil became the most important lesson in life. The teachers present looked a little disappointed that I kept speaking in English and I was telling the Kids not to be like me instead of the other way around. The teachers seemed interested only when it came to demonstrating will power with magic, when I made a card float out of a pack held in a girl's hands. Finally, they all burst into a frenzy when the Deck of cards turned into a glass block.

The kids however, were glued to me and they were driven by my own experiences and ups and downs. I told them the most important motivational stimulant in my life. Bridge and Reward.
This technique is actually a method used to train animals, but I use it for myself. I bridge to a goal and when I achieve it, I reward myself. PM me for more details.

Anyways, UPTLC would be closing down for 2 years and there'll be a closing concert. i'll be closing the show this Sat, 20th at UPTLC, Beaty road. WIll post a video or pics of the event soon. Cheers!

Guest Lecture

I'll be conducting a lecture on the 13th of September from 10am to 12pm at Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Center. Its not exactly a magic lecture, but its definitely one that I've never conducted before. Being, an old boy from the school, a senior teacher called me and asked if i would be free to hold a 2 hour lecture/discussion on how the TAMIL language has helped me in life. As long as I remember, I've always struggled with Tamil. Till today, when I'm performing for tv, or having to perform in Tamil, I've always found it tough to do it. But yes, the language has helped me a great deal.

Never did i imagine i'd be able to front my own show on tv. What helped me was the Tamil language. Tamil was something I never liked, only till one day I realized it was the language that opened new doors in my life. I'm hoping the lecture will go fine and i wouldn't make a fool of myself with my weak command of the language. I will be speaking to students off all language levels so its best I set an example. Will keep you guys updated...

back from Thailand

Finally! I'm back from Thailand! One more off day and I'm back to work. I'll not be posting much photos on yet coz the better photos are with Flash. Yea, went to Phuket with Flash. There's so much to talk about but i'm gonna keep it short and easy to read. Lets go!

Wednesday night

I seriously could not fall asleep. The last time I went overseas, was last year, For Maya 2. Work basically. Now, I'd be going to Thailand, to PARTY! I fell asleep at 12 am, woke up at 2am, used the net till 4 am, left the house at 5am and flew off at 8am.

Thursday

Dad was kind enough to come into the transit area. It helps having a father holding a position in the airport. He came in and ensure a smooth boarding for Flash and I. The new passport scanning system really speeds things up alot. Well, after a 1.5hr ride, we finally reached Phuket International Airport. We were greeted by Jiji, our tour guide for half a day. First stop, Cashew Nut factory. Got dad a box of nuts and moved on to the world's biggest Jewelry store. Its a jewelry store that refines the jems there itself. It was indeed huge. The only thing happening there was the free Beer we got as a door gift. Next stop, honey farm. Free honey, free pollen drink, free royal jelly and i eventually was dead bored. I told Jiji to take us somewhere happening. Jiji suggested the cobra farm. YES YES YES YES!!! Now we're talkin, SNAKES! The snake farm was great, though i had second thoughts about the way the reptiles were kept. We watched a snake show, took some shots with a burmese rock python and eventually made our way to the hotel, Bel Aire Resort. Had, a good lunch, napped and went clubbing late into the night. Thanks to Ann and the unknown girl for keeping Flash and me company.

Friday

The day started out with a sumptous breakfast at Andaman Restaurant, the resident food outlet at Bel Aire. Later, it started to rain heavily and both of us had no choice but to stay in the hotel. Bored and nothing to do, we fell asleep. 3pm, we woke up, and the rain had stopped. We were contemplating Bungee jumping or Jet Ski-ing. Flash sugested the water sport... So we left the hotel and to our amazement, the entire district was flooded, knee deep. Traffic was heavy and slow and the current was strong. Eventually, we reached the beach, about 10mins away and rented two 400cc Jet skis. So the jackass mode switched on and immediately, both of us were breaking speed limits on the seas...speed limits by singapore road standards tat is... I saw a huge wave, about 5 meters high, full throttle, fly up, smash down, fly off the ski and land at least 6 meters away from the speed machine. I felt a sharp pain in my left ankle... I knew it. I'd either fractured my foot or sprained it. Eventually, I got off and the pain was horrid. The walk back to the hotel was longer than it seemed and all i wanted to do was sleep. which was exactly what happened the next few hours. Night arrived and Flash got us beer from the Family Mart store downstairs( jus like 7-11). Drank till we fell asleep.

Friday

Friday was happening. The swelling on my foot was huge. By now, my foot looked like Pork knuckles, according to Flash tat is. It rained the whole morning. Thus, we were cooped up again left to do nothing. Good thing, when the rain subsided, there was no flood. We rented a bike and went to the bungee school. The price for one jump was 1600 baht. That's not the price we saw online!! Still, with an ankle that could either be fractured or sprained, I jumped. 60 freaking meters. (pictures coming soon) Its the scariest thing i'v done so far, but the coolest. I spoke to Glenn, the australian owner of the site and we agreed to feature his facility on MAYA3, where i'll be attempting a bungee jump card trick. Thanks Again Glenn. That night, Flash and I bought a bottle of cheap Thai vodka, 2 Chang beer, half a bottle of baileys and roasted hotdogs. Only thing i remember was vomiting and going to bed. I was Piss Drunk...

Saturday

Saturday was our official chill out day. We got a traditional Thai Massage, 500 Bhat for 2 hours. Thats like 20 dollars man! Its an authentic thai massage by licensed practitioners just incase the reader is thinking of sleeze. We then went to smoke Shisha/hooka and took a walk around the entire Patong Beach. Also, we went on a 3 hour motorcycle ride (rented a motorcycle) and basically saw the entire Phuket.

Sunday

Talk about good food and i'll definately mention Phuket. The food there is totally power!!! Imagine this, two men eating seafood that would cost us almost 150 dollars in singapore, only paying 900 baht ( 38 dollars) for it! Just what we need... good food at LOW prices. I shocked a local waitress at my ability to eat spicy Tom Yam Khoong that even the locals won't touch. I sent a bowl of soup back to the chef 3 times before I got it spicy enough. By the third time, the soup was RED! Still, it took a small saucer of thai chili padi to get me breaking a sweat.
Flash and I also got some shopping done, for families and loved ones. At night, thanks to Dad that transfered me another 2000 baht, we had another 900baht meal, only this time, more seafood. With all the shopping and eating done, it was time to spend the remaining money, on what else, but PARTY!!!
We sent to a little bar named Sunset Bvld. Its a funny name to name a bar, after a place in the states, but shops and hang outs in Thailand are named after the majority of pple that visit them. Aussie bar, Down Under, German Delight, Bombay express, French Toast and Liberty are some names of clubs and bars that come to my mind. So Flash and I went to Sunset Bvld and over there, we took over the place. honestly, the only thing we paid for were two Chang beers. But we got, 2 tequila, 1 mohito, 1 tequila sunrise, 2 carrot juice, 1 Jack Daniels, 1 Vodka Red bull and one P2. All this, from just performing magic, and winning drinking games. Luck was on our side. Every game they introduced us to, we beat them and every game we brought up, they thought it was totally easy to win, but fell flat on their faces... The two ladies attending to us said they were sisters, but I beg to differ. One was Kit and the other named Poon or somehthing like tat. But they were great company. Eventually, it was time to go and we exchanged high fives and promised we'd return again. I'm sure I would....

Flash and I flew back the next morning...

Performing bug

I'm a really proud brother today. My sister just returned from a dance show and she performed with her dance group. I've no idea what she danced but all i know is that i'm glad she's started performing... really hope she continues dancing. I love you sis. I feel a lil bad for not going for her show but I was busy preparing for my thailand trip... All the best Tangatchi!

I've found something that I really enjoy, playing with my balls. 3 of them in total! And 3 cups to go along with them. Hahahaha, the psychic in me tells me there's something sneaky in that head you yours. LOL! I'm talking about an age old effect called the Cups and Balls. Three little Croqueted balls travel from under one cup to another, transposing, jumping and performing many crazy feats. And although I used to perform this routine, its time for a recap. Hopefully, one day I'll perform a routine and post it on youtube. honestly, Don't count on it.

The Past few days have been kinda happening. Janani finally decided to pop me an sms, which was a little surprising. I sincerely thought she forgot she has a brother. But then again, I understand la, she's busy and tied up and has many things going on for her, its ok...I'm someone that takes neglect pretty well. HAhahaha... Hoope you feel bad enough. Its fun to disturb you girl! Love you sis!

Went out with Naz for a full day out on Saturday. We went to exercise, eat lollie pops, ate pizza, ice cream, went to Toy Land and much more, and to end the day, we went to watch Max in a new play titled OH! Its basically about a psycho magician that kills people and goes around talking to his mother's ghost... It was staged by Agni Koothu, a local theater production company fronted by acclaimed writer Ellangovan. Do research on the writer and the theater production company. His works are brilliant! I shall not say more for many reasons, but I urge you, the reader to check them out. And keep a look out for their next play. You may leave the place feeling like a different person and you'll see the society totally differently...
